Deadly Reactions - Peanut Allergy

Peanuts, a cheap source of dietary protein predominantly ingested as peanut butter, have indeed become one of the world's most allergenic foods. They are, unfortunately, progressively finding their way into more and more food products either directly, or by indirect contamination of food products during the manufacturing process.

As someone who is all too familiar with this allergy, I can understand the concern over needing to know the exact ingredients of foods, and where it was prepared. Parents of children with this food allergy are faced with a more difficult situation. How do you keep peanuts and foods prepared near peanuts, away from highly allergic children? It's one thing if you are able to monitor what your child eats all the time, but this is not usually the case once children become school age.

We hope the following articles, resources, and books will help those of you who have this allergy, and inform those of you who do not. Understanding the seriousness of a peanut allergy, learning how to prevent a reaction, and learning how to avoid dangerous foods, is a step toward living a healthier and happier life.
