Immunization Schedule, UPDATED January - December 2003, Text Version


CDC Recommended Childhood & Adolescent Immunization Schedule for 2003 United States

Vaccines are listed under the routinely recommended ages. Some listings indicate a range of recommended ages for immunization. Any dose not given at the recommended age should be given as a "catch-up" immunization at any subsequent visit when indicated and feasible. The Hep B, MMR, and VAR vaccines noted in the 11-12 year range indicate vaccines to be given if previously recommended doses were missed or given earlier than the recommended minimum age.

Hepatitis B:

  • Dose #1 - birth to 2 months
  • Dose #2 - 1 to 4 months
  • Dose #3 - 6 to 18 months
  • "catch-up" dose - 11 to 12 years

Diptheria, Tetanus, Pertussis:
  • Dose #1 - 2 months
  • Dose #2 - 4 months
  • Dose #3 - 6 months
  • Dose #4 - 15 to 18 months
  • Dose #5 - 4 to 6 years

Td:
  • 11 to 18 years

Haemophilus Influenzae Type b:
  • Dose #1 - 2 months
  • Dose #2 - 4 months
  • Dose #3 - 6 months
  • Dose # 4 - 12 to 15 months
    Inactivated Polio:
    • IPV #1 - 2 months
    • IPV #2 - 4 months
    • IPV #3 - 6 to 18 months
    • IPV #4 - 4 to 6 years

    Pneumococcal Conjugate:
    • Dose #1 - 2 months
    • Dose #2 - 4 months
    • Dose #3 - 6 months
    • Dose #4 - 12 to 15 months

    Measles, Mumps, Rubella:
    • Dose #1 - 12 to 15 months
    • Dose #2 - 4 to 6 years
    • "catch-up" dose - 11-12 years

    Varicella:
    • Dose #1 - 12 to 18 months
    • "catch-up" dose - 11-12 years
