Do Your Child's Toys Contain PVC? Phthalates are toxic, so why are they in toys and other products? Do Your Child's Toys Contain PVC? Many of your child's plastic toys (among them a baby's teething ring) contain phthalates which have been proven to be toxic. If your child is sucking on a PVC teether, he'll be ingesting toxic chemicals. There are still many toy manufacturers who are making PVC toys, and it is still not unanimous on what should be done.
