Pesticides: Friends or Foes? Are we doing more harm than good by using pesticides? Or is there a better way? Pesticides: Friends or Foes? Pesticides are so over-used in our environment despite the fact that they are toxic and hazardous to our health and environment. Enough studies have been done to prove that the use of pesticides is futile and probably does more harm than good in the long run. But despite these conditions, companies continue to use them...claiming that they are necessary to keep up food production. There are other ways to grow foods which are pesticide-free, but everyone's help is needed in order to help spread the word. Everyone has a right to know about the poisons released into our environment. Campaign for Food Safety (and Organic Consumers Action): This is a non-profit, grassroots organization seeking pure food (organic food) for human and animal health. Pesticide use is one of the many issues they deal with. Don't Panic - Eat Organic!: There are many Internet resources here to help keep you informed. Friends of the Earth: This is a non-profit advocacy organization dedicated to protecting the planet from environmental degradation; preserving biological, cultural, and ethnic diversity; and empowering citizens to have an influential voice in decisions affecting the quality of their environment -- and their lives. Kids for Saving Earth, Earth Saving Kids Planet: Their goal is to help protect the earth through kids and adults; they want to educate and inspire you to participate in Earth-saving actions. Beyond Pesticides/NCAMP: A non-profit membership organization that was formed to serve as a national network committed to pesticide safety and the adoption of alternative pest management strategies which reduce or eliminate a dependency on toxic chemicals. They provide the public with useful information on pesticides and alternatives to their use. Pesticide Action Network: Their goal is to promote healthier, more effective pest management through education, media, demonstrations of alternatives and international advocacy campaigns.
