For those of you who have to live day-to-day life with allergies (foods, medicine & environmental), it’s easy to let your guard down after a while. But you should never, ever let your guard down. Even if your doctor has been told more than a hundred times what your allergies are — you are the only one, the only person who makes that final decision to eat, take a medication, or to allow your child to do so. No matter how safe you feel, even if you’re in a hospital, always know what you’re taking and what the ingredients are. Always look around and ask questions.

We just watched part of a segment on Larry King Live, where Dr. Bill Cosby and Dr. Marilyn Irving were discussing bullying and why they thought it has gotten much worse. They mentioned reasons such as kids watching real fights on YouTube, on television, and in the movies. They said that when kids watch these things over and over, it becomes “normal” for them, which would make them want to go out and do the same to another person.

It looks as though Europe will finally receive a child abduction alert system, similar to the U.S.’s Amber Alert System. It will be launched on May 25, 2010, which is International Missing Children’s Day. According to the following article by SkyNews, “The system is being co-ordinated by the National Police Improvement Agency (NPIA) and any national abduction investigation will be led by Greater Manchester Police.”

There are way too many fatalities among adolescents who think this truly is a game. One look at the DB Foundation’s statistics database proves them wrong. If you look into this list you’ll find a boy, age 10, who was just ten days away from his 11th birthday when he decided to try the choking “game.” Unfortunately, neither he nor his parents realized how dangerous this “game” was. Another child on the list was 17 and loved computer games. Another child was 13 and loved her dogs. She too fell victim to the choking “game.”
In all my life, I’ve never personally known anyone who has parked their car inside their garage and left it running. I’ve never done this myself — ever (it helps when you never park your car inside your garage). But apparently this is something that does happen. When I think about senseless tragedies where lives have been lost due to carbon monoxide poisoning, I can’t help but wonder how this could happen — how could anyone park their car in their garage, get out, and leave it running?
