Foster Kids Find Family’s Worth Fighting For
With two friends on vacation, another away at camp and one moved to a new neighborhood, your daughter is suffering major social withdrawal. There’s "no one" to play with – except for her younger sister. She avoids resorting to little sis until boredom and loneliness get the better of her. Then, much to her surprise, she discovers a "new" friend, right under her own roof.
Sometimes you don’t have to look far to find a true friend. The furry star of Disney’s Beverly Hills Chihuahua discovered that and your kids can too. Rent this family favorite from last spring and tag along on Chloe and Papi’s Mexican adventure! Then discuss the movie with your children, using our Talk Together ideas. Afterward, Play Together to create a Puppy Pinata for some backyard summer fun.
Chloe is the pampered Beverly Hills Chihuahua whose owner is cosmetics tycoon Vivian Ashe. Chloe’s days are filled with spa treatments and designer dresses, puppy play dates and dips in the pool. The landscaper’s dog, Papi, is smitten. He professes his undying love, but is dissed by the disgusted doggy. Then Vivian leaves her precious pooch in the care of her irresponsible niece, Rachel, while she is away on business. Soon, Chloe’s world is turned upside down.
The next day, Rachel and her friends take an impromptu trip to Mexico, with Chloe in tow. While Rachel is out, Chloe is snatched by a dog-fighting promoter. He pits her against his killer Doberman, El Diablo – and then notices the Harry Winston diamond collar around her neck. At that moment, Delgado, a German shepherd who befriends Chloe, rescues her and they run away. The fight promoter, figuring he can demand a hefty ransom for the well-heeled Chihuahua, sends El Diablo to track her down.
In the meantime, Rachel, Papi and the landscaper, Sam, hunt for the missing Chloe in Mexico. Miles away, Delgado and Chloe battle blood-thirsty mountain lions, get hoodwinked by a rapacious rat, leap from a moving train and, finally, wind up in a park. The park rangers recognize Chloe from a reward poster and notify Rachel. She and Sam arrive just in time to rescue Chloe and Delgado from El Diablo and his owner. Chloe returns to her elegant lifestyle with a new attitude – and a new friend in Papi!
Talk Together
Chloe is not very nice to Papi when he professes his love for her. Why doesn’t she like him? Does he fit in with her Beverly Hills friends? Why not?
On the streets of Mexico, Chloe experiences a lifestyle that is very different from hers in Beverly Hills. How does she react? Why do you think Delgado decides to help her get home? Could Chloe have found her way home without his help? Why or why not?
Chloe finds friends where she might never have looked: on the street, inside a boxcar – even in her own garden. Where did you meet your best friends? Who do you know that might become a good friend?
