Pre-Movie Review: "Bedtime Stories," In Theaters December 25, 2008
Bedtime Stories, Walt Disney Pictures. Rated PG-13 for some mild rude humor and mild language
I loved Adam Sandler movies. I thought he was genius in Happy Gilmore, Big Daddy, and Billy Madison. One look at this movie at I have one question to ask: What happened? Sandler is not suited for this type of role. Sandler comedies are normally crass and crude and meant for an older audience. However, he does temper his bad behavior in this film. With that however, he tempers his acting talent. This is not saying the movie is not watchable, as it is funny in the rare moments in which his talent and the holiday vibe collide peacefully. Bedtime Stories is a tale regarding Sandler and the children he is watching. Elements of the bedtime stories he tells the children come to life the next day leading to all too predictable circumstances. There are humorous aspects to this movie and it is suitable for its target audience. Children will probably enjoy this movie, but adults may find it a little too crazy for the movie’s own good.
I hope this review is helpful in making your decision to go to the movies. Happy watching! - Daisy C.
