Special DVD Review "Connie the Cow: Connie & Friends!" Connie the Cow...what a delightful character! And she comes complete with many friends...Patch the stray dog, Wally Bird, Dodger the Crafty Cat, and many more. This DVD contains 6 wonderful adventure stories with Connie and her friends. The 6 episodes included on this DVD are: "Patch the Stray Dog," "The Grumpy Fox," "Wally Bird," "The Wolf," "The Crafty Cat," and "Connie & her Friends." What's wonderful about these stories, is that each one has a moral. For example...in "The Wolf," Connie learns that not everyone is always as they seem. In this story, Connie and her friends mistake a wolf to be mean, but he turns out to be very nice and helpful. The other stories teach other life lessons that are necessary for children to know. After each of the adventure stories, there are Discovery Games for kids! These are short activities that further help children learn. One of them is a puzzle, another is a hiding game, and there's even a listening game. Each one has something in common...they teach children some basic facts of life. Not only are there 6 wonderful stories included on this DVD, there are other special features! Besides the five Discovery Games for kids, there is a section titled "Our Time for Grownups." This section contains "tips and activities designed to heighten the learning experience for your child." For each episode, you'll find discussion points, tips, and activities related to that episode. What a wonderful addition to the stories! Parents can get ideas on what to discuss with their child after they watch an adventure story, then they can do an activity, and find additional tips. In addition, the DVD comes complete with a set of 6 flash cards with simple words: cow, sheep, goat, chicken, pig and owl. Each flash card has an illustration of the character on the front, and on the back there is a short description. This is certainly much more than just a DVD! MyParenTime.com highly recommends this DVD -- besides containing a wealth of information and learning for children and their parents, the characters and backgrounds are very colorfully drawn in simple shapes and patterns that are appealing to young children. The simple animation doesn't overwhelm young minds. This DVD uses delightful characters to teach lessons in fun ways.
